When I began weaving in 2003, I immediately began pushing the scale of my work, bigger and bigger until I finally made my largest piece in 2012 called Peer, a 14×17 foot painted, dyed, and handwoven installation. Scale continues to fascinate me: to create something so big yet so intimate is very powerful. But this year I have also begun to look at the edges, the details, the little poems of cloth that necessarily get lost in my large work, and have started a series of textile drawings/collages to examine these moments. If you covet my work but have nowhere to put a 10 foot weaving, I’m making some art for you this year! #AndreaDonnelly #collage #textile #handwoven #process #weaving #art
